水彩画の不思議：絵画技法

Painting with watercolors is a unique art experience.  Maybe you've never used watercolors before, or maybe you already use and enjoy this art medium. Either way, I want to help learners discover the flexibility, variety, and amazing effects that are possible with watercolor. 

No previous art experience is required!  

Each week, we will use a combination of PowerPoint presentations and a document camera to explore the technique for the week. I will give a step-by-step demonstration of each new skill, pointing out the uses of various brushstrokes, the effects of varying the amount of water, learning wet-on-wet techniques as we create an art piece together for each class.  

Each painting will center on a different subject matter as we practice the various tips and tricks we've learned. I'm committed to making this a fun learning experience for every student, giving them encouragement and confidence to continue creating art even beyond this class time.

Students will need: 
1. Watercolor Paper (recommended at least 12x9 size, cold press, 90lb grade weight, loose or tablet is fine)  Note: Standard printer paper is not recommended for watercolor painting
2. Set of watercolors (basic, school-type watercolor set is preferred over tubes)
3. Three to four paint brushes of varying shapes and sizes (including rounded, pointed and flat)
4. Container of water
5. Optional: additional tray/palette for mixing colors
