Combining engineering design with literature will help learners be engaged in this STEM class. We'll read The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Then I'll show a few vacation pictures of Norway. After that, students will consider what shape would be best to build a bridge using candy and toothpicks. As time permits, students will test the strength of their bridge using pennies. I'll use Google Slides to share the story and the design process. Learners will get to interact with me and each other as they brainstorm solutions and build. No background knowledge is required. However, if you are already familiar with the story learners are welcome to share any differences in details that they notice.
