Students will learn about the nature of science and the skills that scientists use, including observation, question-asking, and recording.  They will also come away with an understanding of where Earth fits into the larger universe. After learning about the sequence of the creation of the universe (Big Bang--Creation of Matter--Formation of Stars & Galaxies--Birth of the Solar System--Formation of Earth), they will look closely the birth, life, and death of stars, as well as galaxies and constellations.

Some activities may not be completed during the live class.  Students will be expected to finish the activity in order to share it at our next meeting.  Some homework is highly encouraged to solidify concepts learned in class.

Through journaling and discussion, students are monitored for understanding as we progress through the unit.  The science journal will be a record of what we learned this semester.
