Does your learner enjoy a good story? This book is great if you need a structured literature exploration this summer. Your advanced reader will explore a classic book by Francis Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden. Learners will read and complete independent reading, and meet daily to interpret their reading with Mrs. Gail. Your learner will gain valuable skills that can be transferred to any literature they will read in the future. Response homework will facilitate reading for meaning. We...
We will meet to discuss basic vocabulary, literary elements and devices, and figures of speech as they naturally occur within the reading.
Classic literature we read today has "stood the test of time." References, movies, and images that appear in everyday life from these books are intwined in part of our culture because of deep meaning these writers have evoked over the decades and centuries. I hold a current MA Ed. and enjoy watching students discover as they read quality material. I have taught and tutored reading across all grade levels K-12 since 1996.
