Thank you for looking into The Reading Room. This course is 55 minutes and meets once a week. Each class will begin with introducing a morning song to wake up each student and get some energy out. Then students will participate in reading out loud one of the various books that are best for children ages 4-6. For example, "Morris the Moose", "Little Bear", "The Ups and Downs of Simpson Snail", etc. Also, they will work on memorizing and practicing some of the most common sight words that early readers see. Repetition is the foundation for students to feel like they can read, before actually being able too. Feel free to sign up for the course more than once as the books and sight words will change regularly. This is a great starter course or reinforcement after taking my "Oh the Places You Can Go with Phonics" course. Students will be able to listen to the teacher read a book and they can join in on the book by participating in dramatizations. Ultimately leaving students with basic foundational reading skills.
