In order to manage anxiety, we must first understand it. In a world filled with anxieties, I think it’s especially important for us all to take an interest in what anxiety actually is. Students will develop their understanding of: - The reasons why we have anxiety - How it benefits us - What anxiety is from a biological, psychological, and social perspective. - How anxiety disorders may develop from a biopsychosocial perspective - Proposed biological mechanisms of treatments. Students will also be exposed to the nuance of scientific research and learn some of the critical thinking skills required to navigate through the science world.
1) Neuroscience BSc - Cardiff University (2:1, 2021). Dissertation: the contribution of ghrelin signaling in the impact of feeding patterns in anxiety-like behavior. 2) Involvement in anxiety research with Cardiff University, namely expanding the research of my dissertation on anxiety (2021-present). 3) Experience as a high school science and maths tutor with mytutor.com 4) Voluntary work in a psychiatric hospital 5) First and second-hand experience of suffering from an anxiety disorder and the effect of treatments.
