Come along on a magical journey to read, discuss, and share your thoughts on Tolkien's classic The Lord of the Rings part 1 book 1 (the first half of The Fellowship of the Ring). We will also learn about Tolkien and his life and discuss what we can learn from each chapter as well as how those insights can influence our own lives. I have taught in public schools, private schools, and to homeschoolers for over thirty years including teaching over 2,000 students online. My love of literature, art, and history allows me to shine a new perspective on such amazing authors which allows students to see that the writings of the past can impact us today. I am from England and have taught students from all over the world, helping them to learn to love reading.

This book does have some points that may be scary for some students; however, the focus of this class is what we can learn from Tolkien and learn about the structure of this great book.
