We will examine how Nazi Germany economically and socially disenfranchised Jewish people while running a euthanasia program called T4 to eliminate lesser desired members of German society (disabled, elderly, mentally handicapped, etc.). The class will encompass a memo issued by the Nazi Foreign Ministry in 1939 to the Wannsee Conference in 1942, to the end of the war in 1945 and how Nazi policies evolved and were coordinated to murder as many Jewish people as possible. Content is presented...
Students will trace the evolution of the German plan to exterminate Jews from a concept to practice that led to the deaths of over 6 million. Students will identify the difference between ghettos, concentration camps and death marches. Students will examine the simultaneous operations in Russia and Europe to implement the Final Solution. Students will describe the transition from the T4 program to the mass killing of Jews with gas.
