このクラスで学べること

This class will guide students to handwrite a note of thanks, one of the most touching ways to let others know how much we appreciate their kindness. We'll begin by discussing various ways we appreciate others that go beyond thanking someone for a gift. We appreciate others' hospitality, time spent with us, kindness, and guidance just to name a few. I will share a format for the text of the note including, the greeting, expressing thanks, adding specific details, restating thanks, and ending with your regards.Learners will be given time to write each section as I model during the class. I will provide samples of well-written notes as well as assistance with word choice. Once the draft of the thank-you is written, I will share a simple way to transform a piece of typing paper into a thank you card. Learners will have the option to share their writing during class, but sharing is optional.
学習到達目標
Learners will overcome the struggle of figuring out what to say in a well-written thank-you note, allowing them to master the life skill of sending a thoughtful and specific expression of gratitude.

その他の情報

受講に必要なもの
Learners will need paper for drafting the rough copy of their note and a pen or pencil for writing. They will also need a sheet of clean typing paper to fold as the thank you card. Availability of markers or colored pencils will allow students to decorate their created card if they choose. Students may also use a blank thank you greeting card instead of creating their own.

In my classes, I share my love of reading and writing with students. After 30 years as a reading and language arts educator in Texas public schools, I retired while I still loved what I did every day.Throughout those 30 years, I served as a classroom teacher, an instructional reading and writing coach, and an instructional specialist. While I enjoyed coaching teachers and developing engaging lessons, my most rewarding moments included creating success with students. I am grateful for the amazing journey I had, and I am still passionate about teaching and learning. As I continue this next chapter of my teaching life, I embrace the opportunities that allow me to be forever a teacher.
I strongly believe educators provide every learner the opportunity to succeed. The key to providing that opportunity is recognizing that each learner is an individual with a unique learning style. A successful educator has a repertoire of teaching strategies that allow each student to reach his potential and succeed. My passion for reading and writing fuels the students’ growth as learners.
While I've called myself a teacher for over 30 years, I also call myself a wife and mom. My two oldest sons are adults, and my youngest son is a college student. Our rescue dog Kipper rounds out our family.
