The Art of Persuasion is a unique writing technique that allows the writer to express their opinion by showing evidence and with the goal of persuading the reader. Class outline: Introductions Short Story with Persuasive Text Discussion: What is the purpose of persuasive writing? What is the goal? How to identify the audience? Lesson: How to Write a Persuasive Text 1) Introduction - what is our opinion 2) Include points/proof to demonstrate our opinion 3) Close our writing by reiterating our opinion Students will have time to ask questions and brainstorm a topic for their assignment. The class will meet 3 days later to present their persuasive writing piece to the rest of the group. They may include a visual component as well, if they choose. The first class will be 35 minutes. The second class will be at least 35 minutes, but we will make sure each student gets to share so it may run past.
