Come join our book club and be whisked away to lands of magic, sorcery, adventure, and excitement. If you are a lover of Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, or Lord of the Rings - this is the class for you!

Each week we will meet and discuss fantasy novels and how they represent and reflect key themes in contemporary society. I will provide discussion questions and guide conversations about character arcs, allusions to other works, plot devices, and other thematic elements.

All books can be found at most school and public libraries, as well as at local bookstores. Students will have finished (or at least started) the novel of the week before their section begins.

May 5 - Peter and the Star Catchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson
May 12 and 19 - Lore by Alexandra Bracken
May 26 - To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo



* Please note that many of these books are part of a series. To allow for discussion of multiple styles and authors, we won't be spending more than one week with a book or series. I am happy to provide information about sequels for students to read independently.
