From exploring the natural instincts of play to discovering the secrets of Uta Hagen's legendary mastery techniques, you'll gain the skills and knowledge you need to truly inhabit your roles and captivate your audience. 

Each class is a demanding artistic experience, but the rewards are immense, including greater physical and emotional stamina, flexibility, and awareness, as well as a certificate of achievement upon completion of the program. If you're ready to commit to several hours a week of intensive training and take your talents to the next level, this is the course for you!

Weeks 1-2:  Each class begins with relaxation technique and then moves to a sequence of sensory exercises which train the actor’s concentration, ability to respond to imaginary objects, and organic expression. The relaxation exercise is done each week to ensure that the physical and mental tension within the body, which inhibits the actor, diminishes throughout the duration of the course. The sensory exercise starts with the actor’s ability to recreate objects which s/he encounters every day. The exercises become more complicated when additional objects of concentration are added and when the frequency with which the actor encounters the objects of concentration diminishes.
The second part of each acting class is devoted to improvisation & scene work, and/or monologues where students apply what they have learned in the exercise work to fulfill the demands of a play and the creation of a role.

Weeks 3-4:  Scene choices and character and relationship development.  Activities and exercises to aid in truthful character development.

Weeks 5-10:  We will study and implement the first half of Uta Hagen’s legendary mastery techniques.
Week 5:  The Basic Object Exercise
Students will demonstrate their understanding of Uta Hagen’s The Basic Object Exercises exercise by rehearsing and performing a 2-minute slice of their life.
Week 6 and 7:  Three Entrances
Students will demonstrate their understanding of Uta Hagen’s Three Entrances exercise by performing this exercise through a contentless scene.
Week 8:  Immediacy
Students will demonstrate their understanding of Uta Hagen’s Immediacy exercise by performing immediacy in a 1-minute rehearsed search for a personal valuable.
Week 9:  The Fourth Wall
Students will demonstrate their understanding of Uta Hagen’s The Fourth Wall exercise by performing a rehearsed telephone conversation, illustrating the function of the secondary fourth wall.
Week 10:   Endowment
Students will demonstrate their understanding of Uta Hagen’s Endowment exercise by rehearsing and performing the exercise.
Weeks 11-12:  Now is the ultimate fun:)  this is when you will chose three techniques and incorporate them into your final performance pieces.
