サマーディベートキャンプ

Join this one week interactive camp designed to make friends and practice the essential art of arguing well, listening closely and respecting each other’s diverse views and opinions. In this week long, hour and a half per day camp, debaters will learn to construct arguments and practice different styles and formats of debate. They will gain confidence in their abilities to articulate their thoughts and hone critical thinking skills as they navigate the intricacies of good debate techniques. All the while, they will be having fun and making friends from many locales. 

The first day will be an introduction to good debate etiquette, terms, and styles.  We will practice with games like debate tennis and tag me team.  The following three days, various styles of debate will be introduced such as the Lincoln Douglas Debate, team debate and policy debate. Learners will be taught good debate methodology such as building constructives and clashes, talking flow, and how to effectively use point of informations. Most of all, they will practice arguing with each other and supporting each other through constructive, positive feedback. In the final day, a debate competition will be held, with campers competing for the Greatest Debater title.
