This is a condensed version of my 5-week Chemistry 301 course, set to run over 2 weeks with new lessons every other day. What did the hispter ice cube say? "I was water before it was cool." This camp is designed to provide an more in-depth look at the states of matter. Many topics will be covered over this 2 week, 5 lesson class that will give the student a better understanding of solids, liquids, and gasses. Students will have the opportunity to practice what they learn each lesson. Monday, Week 1, Lesson 1: Review States of Matter & Chemical vs. Physical Changes -> Video: States of Matter Review -> Video: Chemical vs. Physical Changes -> Fill in the blank note sheets for each video -> Practice problems Wednesday, Week 1, Lesson 2: States of Matter and Temperature -> Video: Heating and Cooling Effects on States of Matter -> Video: Phase Changes -> Fill in the blank note sheets for each video -> Practice problems Friday, Week 1, Lesson 3: Properties of Solids & Liquids -> Video: Properties of Solids -> Video: Properties of Liquids -> Fill in the blank note sheets for each video -> Practice problems Monday, Week 2, Lesson 4: Solutions -> Video: Solutions -> Fill in the blank note sheets for the video -> Practice problems Wednesday, Week 2, Lesson 5: Properties of Gases -> Video: Properties of Gases -> Video: Ideal Gas Law -> Fill in the blank note sheets for each video -> Practice problems This is a flexible schedule camp, meaning that there are no live meetings. Each class day, new videos, notes pages, and practice problems will be posted to the classroom. Students will upload their completed practice problems to the classroom (either scanned or picture taken) for feedback from the teacher. There will be a discussion thread where students can ask for help from the class and the teacher. To get the most out of this course, the teacher will provide notes pages with blanks for the students to fill in as they watch the videos. Students are expected to complete the practice problems before the next lesson as the material builds upon itself. Each lesson will feature pre-written, fill-in-the-blank notes for each video. This is to help the students learn how to take notes in a science class. I have also found over my years of teaching that if students write things down they tend to retain the material better. The teacher is always be available via message (either in the classroom discussion or private message) and will typically reply within 12 hours, but never more than 24 hours unless extenuating circumstances.

I have taught chemistry and chemical engineering at the college level, and have been teaching science to home school elementary, middle and high school students for 10 years. I know how to present science in a fun way to boost students interest in the subject.
