Learning Goals: 2-Week Vocal Jumpstart

By the end of this intensive 2-week vocal jumpstart program, students will:

Vocal Technique:

* Understand the basics of vocal anatomy and healthy singing practices.
* Develop proper breath support techniques for improved vocal control.
* Master basic posture and body alignment for optimal singing.
* Learn and practice fun vocal warm-up exercises to prepare the voice.
* Identify their vocal range and explore potential songs based on their interests.
* Gain an understanding of vocal placement and practice applying it with different vowel 
   sounds.
* Address initial vocal challenges and learn troubleshooting techniques.
* Develop basic articulation techniques for clear singing pronunciation.
* Begin to control vocal dynamics, singing both softly and loudly.

Songwork & Performance:

* Select a song appropriate for their skill level and interests.
* Develop pitch accuracy for singing simple melodic phrases.
* Integrate learned vocal techniques into singing the chosen song.
* Practice phrasing and expression within the chosen song.
* Build confidence and performance skills through song performance exercises.
* Learn basic song interpretation techniques to express the emotion of the music.
* Prepare and showcase the chosen song in a supportive learning environment.

General Development:

* Gain a foundational understanding of vocal technique for further development.
* Receive personalized feedback and performance tips from a qualified vocal coach.
* Discuss potential resources and next steps for ongoing vocal practice.
* Explore options for continuing private vocal lessons (optional).

👉 Play what you want to play: Forget rigid programs! I use your favorite songs and styles as a foundation for building skills and understanding music theory.

👉 Develop strong technique: While we're having fun, I'll also ensure you learn proper technique and build a solid foundation for future growth.

Qualifications & Experience

👉 Experienced vocalist: With over ten years of classical training, I have a deep understanding of vocal technique and a passion for sharing that knowledge.

👉 Academically accomplished: I hold a 4.0 GPA from the University of British Columbia, where I majored in Voice and minored in Applied Music Technology.

👉 Award-winning musician: My dedication to music has been recognized with scholarships like the Phyllis Taylor Scholarship and the Elizabeth Lamberton Scholarship in Voice.

👉 Multi-faceted musician: Beyond voice, I'm skilled in piano (with RCM exam experience) and music production. I also love exploring songwriting!
