The class will start with a group discussion about how students feel about tests and how they experience test anxiety. They will be presented with a number of methods to decrease their anxiety. This will include the best ways that they can prepare themselves for a test or exam and different suggestions to help prepare. Students will interact as a group during discussion. Slides will also be included and added to as the class progresses. Students will take away with them a "cheat sheet" to remind them of what they have been presented. My teaching style is relationship based and student centred.

In the past 20 or so years I have worked with many students from all different strengths and challenges, both in my homerooms and as a tutor. Many of them have struggled with test anxiety and with finding the best way for them to retain information for a test or exam. Both of these issues have nothing to do with the information they know, they are directly related to how their brain learns and their lived experience with tests, exams, and school. Using feedback from my students, both present and past, with my own two neurodiverse (adult) children, and putting my developmental psychology degree to good use, I learned how to help my students to use their brain instead of fighting against it.
