このクラスで学べること

Hi, Friends!

I can't wait to share this lively, on-going class with you. Each week, we will start class with a fun-loving song to get our bodies moving to the beat! Wiggle, Jump, Shake, & Move! Then, we will settle into our favorite story-time chair to hear an exciting, electrifying, and sometimes amusing story. Young students will increase their reading comprehension as they listen, predict, and color a themed coloring page that goes along with our weekly story. Your student will be asked to share, during show-n-tell, something related to our story that week or pick their own book or toy to share. Meeting new friends is exciting! Our surprise classroom "helper" will assist us in having fun, but also guide the classroom friends to listen, take turns, and learn more about ourselves and others.

As a reading and phonics teacher, I know reading is so important for young students! In the virtual classroom, this gives your student an early, positive experience which translates to an excitement to learn new and exhilarating things. Coloring will increase those fine motor skills but also help with reading comprehension, too.

Incorporating as many of the senses gives students a well-rounded experience they will enjoy and look forward to each week in our "Sing-Story-Share" class! I use every opportunity to also talk about shapes, numbers, letter names and sounds, so your child comes away from class with a well rounded learning experience!

I'm excited to connect with your student and help them engage with our other new friends. We will have so much fun during the show-n-tell time, too! This will help young students learn to listen, take turns, and even ask questions to engage in conversation.
I realize some learners are a little shy to speak and share in class. That is okay, too! Everyone learns a lot by listening and can still have a positive classroom experience. One of my teacher talents in bringing out even the shyest learner! Connecting, encouraging, and having a joyous class gives that learner the confidence to speak and engage when they're ready.

As in all my classes, I like to keep each microphone on so we can practice talking when it is our turn. In the event that there are extra background sounds, I may have to mute learners from time to time. I am never, ever mad at them if this happens. ☺
Please show your student how to mute and unmute themselves so they can do it without the help of a grown-up. Thank you for your help and understanding of this!

I enjoy major holidays and like to share this with my students. The words Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas will be heard in class but always taught in a fun, secular way. Parents will get an alert before that class is charged if you prefer to opt out of these holiday week topics. And feel free to reach out with any questions!

Summary of an Example Class:
• Greetings (name, favorite fruit/animal/season, etc, any pets)
• Movement (song--sometimes to sing & move along with, sometimes just movement)
• Story Time (feel free to listen or listen/color)
• Questions/Answer about our Story
• Show-n-Tell (something related to story or whatever student chooses)
• Good-bye Friends

Parents, be aware that we will move our bodies for a few minutes at the beginning of class. Make sure the student has an open area to do body movements where they won't fall or get hurt. Since this class is inclusive for all learners, any movements can be adapted to students sitting in a chair as well. Example movements: jumping jacks, stretching our arms and legs, running or walking in place, and dancing. Students are encouraged to participate in the movements, but it is not required to still have a fun, successful class.
受講に必要なもの
Each Sunday, enrolled students will receive the coloring sheet for the week. Ideally, students will bring the printed color sheet and have crayons or markers available during classroom activity time.
You can still have a fun, successful class without the coloring page.

I will also recommend an item to share with the classroom, based on our song & story theme that week. The recommended item is a suggestion only. Feel free to share your own favorite book, toy, or artwork to the class.

Fun, positive, and encouraging! That’s what I hear from parents and students alike that take classes with me. I have an extensive background in musical theatre and acting so it’s only natural to bring that side of my personality to teaching. Learning should be exciting and fun. My classroom is colorful, engaging, and we will have so much fun together! My motto is: If I love teaching, my students love learning!

I love singing, acting, science, animals, volunteering in my community, crafting classroom props and creating up-cycled crafts. Just to name a few! I have been
married 25 years and we have 2 teen children and 3 dogs.

Education background:
I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I focused on Reading Education and Learning Disabilities in graduate school at UGA. I also have a 120 hour TESOL certificate for teaching ESL classes.

I currently teach phonics, beginning reading and comprehension, Play-Doh science classes, ESL, and several socialization and fun classes to students around the world. So many parents have told me their student works even harder practicing reading, phonics and speaking English in my ESL classes because of my motivation. Positive teaching methods that incorporate applicable skills propel my students to find their own inward motivation and exhibit great success. There’s no higher compliment for a teacher than knowing your student works to improve themselves because they love you and your class. Hard work, kindness, genuine love & a passion for teaching each student is the key to making a lasting impression on learners.

Now let’s get started! Engaging and exciting classes await your learner. See you in the classroom!
