このクラスで学べること

“STEM” stands for science, technology, engineering and math. STEM can refer to the subjects individually or one or more working together, but can also mean a way of doing things that includes solving problems, asking questions, and exploring the world around us.

Weather is an amazing. It is just the sort of real world thing that gets kids excited about learning and STEM. They can see weather. They can feel it, hear it, and touch it.
Teacher Lauren will introduce the water cycle though a fun power point. This allows moments for class discussion. We will learn words and meanings associated with the water cycle.

Activity #1
Rain is a part of the water cycle. Our first question is "What’s the water cycle?" ( It’s the pattern of how water moves through our environment.)
The sun heats water on Earth and causes it to evaporate into a gas. This gas collects in the sky as clouds. The water in the clouds then condenses, or turns back into a liquid, and falls back to the Earth as rain.
It can be hard to see the whole water cycle in action, but you can make a smaller model. We will take a zip lock bag and make a water cycle.
This activity you will set up and leave on a window for a few days. It takes time for water to evaporate, but you can check back throughout the day to see different parts of the water cycle.

During a transition activity we will be singing the water cycle song.

Activity #2
Shaving Cream Rain Clouds
Another way to make it rain is a easy sensory experiment called shaving cream rain clouds. This activity shows what happens with real clouds. The water droplets gets heavier and heavier until they fall down as rain.
学習到達目標
Students will be introduced to how rain contributes to the water cycle.

Hello, Parents! My name is Teacher Lauren. It's so nice to meet you! Let me tell you a little bit about myself!

With over 18 years of teaching experience I am so very excited to start an exciting adventure with your child. I grew up in a small shrimping community in Louisiana. I have a Associates degree in science in early childhood education. I have experience working with children both in a preschool setting and 3rd-5th grade in a classroom setting. I now have 2 years of experience teaching online in a virtual classroom.

I alter my teaching style to meet the needs of the student(s). I strive to engage children through games and hands on activities. I have created a flexible curriculum that can be altered to better suit my students. In my classes, your learner will be having so much fun that they will not even realize they are learning! I encourage a lot of engagement and participation between myself and the learners as well as learner to learner.

When I am not teaching I am with my family. I am married and have 3 teenaged children. We also have 2 fur babies named Nunya and Kajun. As a family we enjoy Friday night high school football games, or after the season ends you can find us having family game night. I also enjoy going to the beach, and disney.

I look forward to meeting your learner in my classroom soon!

- Ms. Lauren
