As Space is becoming increasingly important in most countries around the world, especially given the amount of Space travel that has recently increased, it is more and more important for our children to know, at least basic knowledge about the Space around us, including differing thoughts and theories about the Universe, how it came about, the Cosmic Microwave Background and why it is important; as well as theories surrounding worm holes, different dimensions, and the Multiverse! Plus, most...

Unit 1Types of LightTypes of Light2 lessons2 WeeksWeek 1Lesson 1Introduction to The Types of LightDuring this first lesson, we learn all about the different Types of Light sources in the Universe, as this is vital to understanding the various theories humans have about the Known Universe. Key terminology used when discussing Types of Light (Radio Waves, Infrared, Ultraviolet, Gamma Rays, X-rays, & Microwaves) will be focused on, as well as identifying the types of light humans can actually see, and those we can only “see” while using technology.Week 2Lesson 2Fun Facts about LightFor this second lesson, we will have a review over the information & key terms learned during our first class. Afterwards, we will build upon that with some Fun Facts about each Type of Light, and then discover new vocabulary words & terminology (Cosmic Microwave Background, Fast Radio Bursts). We will discuss what these are and how they help us uncover more about our UniverseUnit 2Theories of the UniverseTheories of the Universe2 lessons2 WeeksWeek 3Lesson 3How the Universe Came to Be & ReviewThis lesson is a review of Types of Light with a fun game, then we dive into the leading theories of how our Universe came to be. Key terminology learned: Big Bang Theory, Big Bounce, Steady-State Universe, & String Theory. We will discuss each, and learners will get to decide which theory they believe is closer to how it all came about. *As this is a Science class, scientific theories are discussed & it is stressed that they cannot be proven/disproven at this time. They are "theories" or ideas.Week 4Lesson 4Theories of Creation of the Universe, Discussion & ReviewDuring this lesson, we will review & discuss the Theories of how the Universe was born, then we will pose the possibility that none of these theories are correct, and will, as a class, create our own fun, intriguing theory (story) about how our Universe formed. Afterwards, we will play an interactive review game together about the various Theories of the Creation of the Universe.Unit 3Theories of WormholesTheories of Wormholes2 lessons2 WeeksWeek 5Lesson 5Introduction to the Theory of WormholesIn this lesson, we will buzz through the Cosmos as we discover the Theory of Wormholes! We will define what they are and learn the various theories surrounding their possible existence. We will learn various new terminology during our trip today (Quantum Entanglement, Wormhole, Paradox, Space-Time, General Relativity).Week 6Lesson 6Traversing a WormholeIn today's lesson, we will review the definition of “Wormholes” & other information covered in our previous lesson, as we continue to learn the theories surrounding Wormholes. As a class, we will have an amazing discussion as we are posed questions about Wormholes & traversing one together!Unit 4Theories of the MultiverseTheories of the Multiverse2 lessons2 WeeksWeek 7Lesson 7Introducing the MultiverseDuring this Lesson, we will explore the Multiverse; learning the definition of the Multiverse; what theories scientists have regarding the Multiverse; and whether or not scientists believe it would be possible for humans to ever travel to another place within the Multiverse. Key terminology learned today (Multiverse, Brane, Simulation Theory, Quantum Multiverse, Holographic, Ultimate, will allow learners a greater understanding of the Multiverse.Week 8Lesson 8Discussing the Multiverse & ReviewFor our last lesson, we will wrap up our discussion of the Multiverse, enjoying an in-depth class discussion regarding what each student thinks and believes about it, as well as what we might find, if we are ever able to travel in/through it. We will theorize & create a story as a class about one of the different Verses and what it might contain that would be different than our own universe. Afterwards, we will play a fun, interactive review game together.
Students will be able to identify the different types of light found in space; recognize the various theories of how the universe was formed; describe what a wormhole is; define what the multiverse is, and discuss the various theories of the universe.
I have always had a love of space, from the moment my grandpa, an amateur astronomer, let me look through the 10-foot telescope he built all by himself, to watching shuttles & satellites lift into the sky, and watching some fall back to the earth. I have spotted some of the largest dust storms to hit Mars, and have enjoyed looking at the various craters on our Moon and seeing the rings around Saturn, all from my own backyard in Missouri & while using other telescopes my grandpa and I built together. I have never ceased my exploration and search, looking to the skies to watch for eclipses, comets, and so much more! My love of all things Space has only increased with time, and I feel it is the next great wave of the future! As a teacher with a Master’s Degree in Teaching & over 30 years of experience working with children of various ages, and more than 5 years teaching students about Space, as well as other Science-related subject-matter, I love sharing my knowledge with the next generation. My hope is to instill the awe-inspiring beauty the Unknown Universe holds, as well as encourage students to dream and believe! I hope to see you in class as we explore the Universe together!

Each learner will need their cameras turned on for this class. Parents may need to assist their child in learning how to "mute & unmute" themselves, as teacher will mute students at times during the "teaching" portion of our class & then ask them to "unmute" to answer questions & interact with the other learners during the interactive, conversational, and review portion of our class. This allows each learner the opportunity to hear what is taught, while still allowing for questions, interaction and such. *YouTube videos will be shared during classes at times, to help learners understand these scientific topics. The links for these videos will also be shared in the Outschool Classroom so parents may watch them later with their child, as desired.
