In this class, students will learn the steps to effectively solve problems relevant to everyday life. Youth today are faced with many situations where the outcome is dependent upon the choice they make. In order to better help their problem-solving skills, learners will be introduced to the SODAS method. 

The class is structured with a PowerPoint lesson that will begin by describing the companies of the SODAS method: S-situation, O-options, D-disadvantages, A-advantages, and S-solution. Learners can expect a fun interactive class and work together as a team with some individual time to get thoughts together. No background knowledge is needed to succeed; just come with an open mind ready to learn!

2. Understand the importance of choosing positive choices when faced with a tough decision.

B.S In Public Health, 9 years in teaching, mentoring youth (life skills), and working in Social Services. I'm also a human being who uses the skill of problem-solving daily! I have experience working as a group-home youth counselor (ages 12-18) for 4 years, Psychiatric Case Manager for individuals re-entering into the community, and currently working as a Care Coordination family Consultant. I love teaching the importance of growth mindsets, empowerment, and life skills. Working in the social services field has given me the opportunity to work with youth and families from different walks of life. My experiences have ignited my passion for empowering youth and providing them with the skills and tools for continued success. My hope is that this course will plant the seed in every learner to strive to be confident problem solvers.
