Week 1Lesson 1The ElephantThe development of oral communication, self-management, and leadership skills through the promotion of student-student interaction. it centers around the ancient tale of the Elephant and the Sovereign and uses that example as the jumping off point for the student's activities.Lesson 2Thinking HatsThis lesson uses the Six Thinking Hats, created by Dr. Edward de Bono as a jumping off point for ways that our learners can contribute in a conversation. The tool focuses on generating ideas within a practical framework and tackling a problem with a different perspective from your own but the activities are more focusing on facilitating the learner's ability to do so.Lesson 3The Next MinecraftThis class focuses on leadership and persuasion using a framework of trying to develop a new video game with the group. By arguing for the various team members that will be required to make the game learners develop of oral communication, self-management, and leadership skills. They will also practice listening and identifying the priorities of others.Lesson 4Rising StarsThis class develops leadership and persuasion skills through activities that focus on active listening. Learning how to ask meaningful questions and basing strategy on feedback from stakeholders.Lesson 5Get the ScoopThis class allows learners to practice critical thinking and persuasion skills through replicating journalistic skills and hypotheticals. Learners will also use their creativity to develop their own news story.
