Students will improve their social-emotional and interpersonal skills in order to have successful interactions with teachers, peers, and future employers.
Course objectives
1. To introduce students to social-emotional learning
2. To familiarize students with the zones of regulation and recognizing their feelings in context.
3. To introduce students to emotional cognition, the ability to recognize and interpret other facial expressions and voice tones.
4. To provide students different models of composition.
5. To strengthen student understanding of the zones of regulation.
6. To prepare students to explain the connections between emotions, and expressions
7. To prepare students to craft more effective and diverse writing assignments.
8. To provide students with diverse methods for responding to social-emotional environments such as peer work, play, future skills for work.

I am a special education teacher by trade! I was a core replacement special education teacher at Aurora Hills middle school from 2018-2019 and I am currently a special education substitute teacher for the Aurora and Denver school districts! I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in special education with a focus of k-12 licensure. I am committed to bringing quality research based education to your students that can be used beyond k-12 learning and has direct applications to the workforce world.
