LGBTQ+ people have long been well-represented in the arts. In this class, we will take a brief journey through the history of Western music from the Romantic era of classical music to the present day through discussion and listening to short clips of musicians of various genres, from Tchaikovsky to Lil Nas X and others. Learners are encouraged to bring their favorite LGBTQ+-related, class-appropriate songs to discuss and put together a class playlist for Pride. Although the history portion focuses on music of the United States and Europe, I would love to have students bring music from anywhere in the world.

教師の専門知識と資格
Hello! I'm Ms. Molly, and I teach violin, viola and cello lessons, both classical and fiddle, as well as other musical topics and humanities subjects. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music and English and (most of) a Master of Arts in Music. I have taught strings for 25 years, both individual and group lessons, in a variety of settings, including private music schools, urban public schools, and in students' homes. I have Suzuki training, and my teaching style incorporates Suzuki principles while remaining flexible to the student's needs. I'm a homeschooling adoptive parent to a 2E child; our family enjoys making music together, reading all kinds of books, rescuing cats, and creating art. I believe that the arts are a fundamental part of education, that learning occurs best in an atmosphere of mutual respect between student and teacher, and that we all learn from one another all the time. I look forward to meeting you!
