米国の学年 2 - 5
Learn the history of slavery in the United States. In class 1 and part of class 2 We will discuss how the people of Africa and other continents and countries were captured and dragged on board ships bound for the Colonies of the New Land somewhere on the other side of the world. We will learn what their lives were like and the jobs they did. How was life different for men, women, and children? Where did the slaves live, what did they eat, what did they wear, and how did they get through each day living in such horrific circumstances? We will discuss how they educated themselves in hopes of freedom and a better life.

In the second half of class 2 and class 3 we will learn about the Underground Railroad. How it began, and what it was really like to run for your life and freedom. We will learn who the people were who helped the slaves escape to freedom. How the slaves traveled to find freedom and where they hid from those hunting them. We will learn how abolitionists fought to stop slavery and offered their homes for fleeing enslaved people to hide.

This class will include no homework. Extra resources are available for all students to explore and use to further their knowledge. If a grade is needed, please email me after enrollment, and I will provide your student with the assignments needed to obtain a grade. During the class, I do not require students to mute their microphones unless there is background noise that will disrupt the other students' learning environment. Students are encouraged to ask questions and share during class as long as they feel comfortable. I will never call on students who have not volunteered to answer a question. Neurodivergent students are welcome.

I hold a BA in History with minors in Women's Studies and Humanities as well as an MA in History. My area of specialty is women's history and American (United States) history from the 1560s to 1960s. I strive to continue my education by taking continuing education courses on many topics pertaining to the settling of the United States. I have recently completed continuing education units studying in-depth how slavery in the United States began, the lives of those enslaved, and the abolinisits who fought to free them.
