スラムポエトリー：魅力的なサマーキャンプ

In this 5 day summer camp, students will develop confidence in their writing and speaking skills by learning the basics of slam poetry. 

Slam poetry is a unique form of poetry. Much like an poem, a slam poem gives the writer an outlet to express themselves. Slam poetry is unique in that it is meant to be heard and performed! Students love slam poetry due to the freedom it allows them while writing. By the end of the camp, students will have created their very own 3-5 minute Slam Poem and have the confidence to perform it for their peers!

During this course, students will review the basic poetic elements, learn what slam poetry is and where it originated, analyze various slam poems, and create and perform their very own poem! 

This interactive class will allow students to get comfortable creating their own pieces of poetry and sharing them with an audience of their peers. Creative writing not only encourages a deeper level of thinking for students, but it sparks a joy in their life that promotes success! 

Day 1: Review Elements of Poetry and discuss the origination of slam poetry. 
Day 2: Watch/Listen to a variety of slam poems and discuss with teacher and peers 
Day 3: Complete a graphic organizer to begin creating your own slam poem
Day 4: Proofread/Teacher Consult 
Day 5: Deliver and share your slam poems with your peers! 

This 5 day camp is guaranteed to spark creativity and confidence! Students will interactive with each other while completing various questions, review games, and analyzations.
