Beginning with story time, I will read "Sir Cumference and the Fraction Faire" by Cindy Neuschwander. Then with a video clip on fractions, we will examine the importance of fractions. We will discuss what they are, why they are formed, and why it is important to understand them. The students will then explore fractions using their own strips and pies. (PDF provided before the start of class.) Finally, I will provide a link enrichment activity for after class to continue the study of fractions. This is a great introduction into fractions, or a good review, for anyone who needs it.
