When you hear the word SHARK, do you picture a big scary monster with a mouthful of teeth? Are you afraid to go into the ocean because you have a fear of sharks? Movies and media often portray sharks as man-eating beasts that attack humans randomly. These false portrayals have given sharks an undeserved bad reputation and have made these amazing creatures feared rather than appreciated. Through discussion and an engaging slideshow, we will explore some common myths and misunderstandings about shark attacks. We will learn the facts about shark attacks, expert advice on what you should do if you come face to face with a shark, and tips to avoid encountering a shark and stay safe in the ocean. We will also explore how these unfair portrayals of sharks are harmful to both humans and sharks. After class students will receive a printable copy of my Be Smart Tips to Avoid Meeting a Shark page and Shark Attack Fact Trivia Cards containing the information learned in class.
学習到達目標
