In this 12-week Japanese course for enthusiastic learners who have completed Japanese for Kidz I (Sessions 1-5), we will begin the textbook, Japanese For Young People II. Over the course of twelve lessons, students will continue on their Japanese language journey by learning verbs that express existence. Students will also learn a build on vocabulary they learned in the previous text: school vocabulary, counters, location markers (up, down, under, over etc.) The workbook will also be used to support learning with exercises that correspond with each lesson, as well as starting down the path of KANJI (Chinese characters). **As always, our class will include games, videos, and opportunities to review vocabulary on the Quizlet and KAHOOT platforms.** Japanese for Young Poeple II Lesson 16 - 18 - Overview FUNCTION -existence and location -comparison -showing hesitation SITUATION -school -other schools -railroad station -in town -at home STRUCTURE, EXPRESSIONS & VOCABULARY SETS - Verbs III (verbs of existence) -Location markers (up/down/in/before/after/right/left/beside/near) -Counters for floors, people, books -Connecting two sentences KANJI 一ニ三四五六七八九十百千万上下中人子 Over the course of the twelve weeks, we will cover three lessons from the text (Lesson 16 - Lesson 18. The following is the breakdown of the twelve weeks of study. At the end of each lesson, there will be review and KANJI test. Japanese for Kidz language classes use a variety of websites and sources. Any websites that are not on the approved list of sources, will only be used live during class.
About QUIZLET:
Quizlet.com is a flashcard based review platform that includes games and other types of activities/tests. It is not necessary to have a Quizlet account to access the flashcards. However, if a student wants to compete in games and have their scores recorded, a free account will be required. Quizlets will be given as homework as well as reviewed in class and are an integral part of the Japanese for Kidz curriculum.
KAHOOTS are typically only played in class. However, there are times a KAHOOT may be assigned as homework. There is no need to make am account to play KAHOOTS. One thing to note is that students have to log in to kahoot.it on a separate browser or device in order to play.
YouTube is an invaluable resource for language learners. All content in assigned videos has been reviewed by the teacher and deemed age appropriate for students. However, the teacher can not confirm that all content by each YouTube Channel will be appropriate, therefore, students should only watch videos that are put in the classroom.

Jasmine-sensei has nearly 25 years experience teaching English and Japanese as a second language to students of all ages around the world. In addition, Jasmine-sensei lived over sixteen years in Japan in the Kansai and Kanto area, and spent much of her time while there studying Japanese in formal settings as well as independently. Jasmine-sensei's journey with the Japanese language started when she went to Japan on a homestay at sixteen years of age for a semester in 1992. Japanese is still one of her greatest passions, and she continues to actively study Japanese (independently and with a mentor) with the goal of providing the best instruction and experience for her students.
