Assessment
Assessments will be informal. As each activity progresses, the learners responses will be checked for accuracy. Learners will receive repititions from the teacher or a classmate as needed for success. All learners are expected to be respectful and encouraging to one another.

⭐️IMPORTANT regarding 'MY' REFUND POLICY: My policy is different/more flexible than the standard recently changed Outschool refund policy regarding initial enrollments. I want to help families with their planning, and honestly this will help me with my planning as well. I understand that a lot of families prefer to book far enough in advance to guarantee a spot in a class as they plan ahead. I also realize that unexpected/unplanned events can change well intentioned plans. So, in order to help families who like to plan ahead, but also allow me the time to fill a space left empty after an unenrollment, I am willing to issue a full refund IF you need to withdraw your learner for any reason up to TWO WEEKS BEFORE the START DATE of this class. When you withdraw, even if you receive an automated message from Outschool that you are not eligible for an automatic refund, please contact me directly immediately so I can submit the refund for you with Outschool. REMEMBER, I must be notified by the person who enrolled the learner NO less than TWO WEEKS PRIOR to the class start date so I have time to try to fill that space left empty with another learner. After that point, the standard Outschool refund policy will apply. Also please check out my profile page for additional infomation regarding absences and recordings. Contact me with questions. ⭐️ Class size is kept very small to allow for more individualized attention.* 

⭐️⭐️ Class minimum is 2. HOWEVER, if only 1 learner is enrolled, I will have class with the 1 learner for a minimum of 2-3 weeks to see if other learners will join last minute. I enjoy teaching to one learner. However, for this class if no other learners enroll during that time, I will offer other options or will offer them prior if parent/guardian requests.

Do your learners have difficulty actually listening to what they hear? Do they remember the details? In this ongoing class, each week we will focus on the importance of listening with understanding for details. 

**Prior to taking this class and to succeed, learners will need to know shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle) and the meaning of the prepositions: top, bottom, middle, above, below, next to, around, across. They also need to be able to write their first name and know their age. 

Each week we will discuss using listening skills in different situations and the difference between hearing and listening. Next the learners will practice using their ability to listen for detail by following the teachers verbal step-by-step instructions to complete sequential paper and pencil type activities. Checks for accuracy will vary between each step being checked immediately for accuracy after completion or accuracy checked after all steps are completed. This portion is determined by the ability and needs of the students in attendance. Learners will be told to listen carefully for details the first and second time each instruction is given, but they will also be encouraged to ask for a repetition if needed. 

Some weeks brain fitness games will be included. ***Occasionally these exercises will involve minimal physical activity such as balancing on one foot. Therefore learners should have a chair or sturdy piece of furniture to hold on to for balance when needed.*** If your learner is unable to participate in brain fitness games involving physical movement, please let me know prior to class. 

Each session will involve the same type of verbal and written activities class. The content each week is not dependent on knowledge of content from the previous week. Sessions do not build on each other. They have different following directions activities each week. To help parents and learners know when content of the class is beginning to repeat for them based on when they enrolled, below on the each week's schedule I have labled content from A on. Enroll at anytime to join us to practice following directions and improve brain fitness! 

(Letters are only a guide to help you know which week your learner is enrolled. As time permits, brain fitness games will be included near the end of each session).

⭐️ Remember Ongoing/Enrichment classes are like a weekly subscription. You can join at anytime and cancel the subscription at any point if you don't wish for your learner to continue this live group class. Also, you can pause your subscription if your learner won't attend class but plans to return. (❗️)However, remember that pausing does Not reserve your learner's spot.

This class helps support all learners, including those with ADHD, ASD & more by working to improve attention, focus, etc. It is also beneficial to those with executive function needs & dyslexia. It has helped many improve brain function.

For more than three decades, I have successfully helped hundreds of children, teens and adults in public school, private school, homeschool and wellness center settings improve their listening and memory skills. I have a M.S. degree in speech-language pathology and earned a Master's level teaching certification. I am also an Interactive Metronome (IM) Certified Provider. IM is a computer based brain fitness training program. We can all benefit from practice in listening for details. I enjoy having a fun and structured class as I help learners improve their ability to  listen for detail so they can function even better in all aspects of their daily life.
