**This is the "Level 3"/Advanced course. It is intended for ages 13-16 and best suited for 8th-10th grade students who want more practice and feel moderately comfortable with writing essays. Students will write absolute, appositive, and participle phrases with correct punctuation. 3. Students will use phrases to incorporate variety into their writing. 4. Improve their understanding of simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences. 5. Identify the differences between dependent vs. independent clauses. 6. Identify the difference between clauses and phrases. 7. Write simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences with correct punctuation. 8. Use different sentence structures to incorporate variety into their writing. 9. Identify and demonstrate the basic components of an essay. 10. Effectively write and revise a multi-paragraph essay.
