In this 5 week course, students will dive into an exciting study of the most basic unit of life... The Cell! Students will embark on a microscopic journey as they investigate and explore the cell theory, anatomy of the cell, eukaryotic cells, prokaryotic cells, plant cells, animal cells, nucleus, cell membrane, cell transport and homeostasis. As a high school biology teacher, I love creating an interactive lesson that utilizes active learning, interactive games, hands-on projects, inviting...
Students will build a strong understanding of the cell. Standards: MS-LS1-1. Conduct an investigation to provide evidence that living things are made of cells; either one cell or many different numbers and types of cells. MS-LS1-2. Develop and use a model to describe the function of a cell as a whole and ways parts of cells contribute to the function. MS-LS1-3. Use argument supported by evidence for how the body is a system of interacting subsystems composed of groups of cells.
Hi learners and parents! I currently am a credentialed teacher in Washington State and hold my endorsements in biology (5-12), health (K-12) and fitness (K-12). I currently teach AP Biology, honors biology, anatomy and physiology and health science. Last year, I taught biology, environmental science, health, physics and P.E. to middle and high school students. I hold my Masters Degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in life sciences and health. I received my Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training from Whitworth University. I completed 1,250 clinical hours in physical therapy clinics, collegiate, semi-professional and high school athletic training rooms, emergency rooms and urgent cares.

Students will be assigned note sheets to complete throughout the lessons. Students will be assigned a creative, final project that will challenge them to apply all that they have learned throughout the course. Homework each week should take 1-2 hours.授業以外に週あたり 1 - 2 時間の学習が期待されます
評価が提供されます
Students will be assessed with note sheets and a final, culminating project.成績が提供されます
Students will be supplied with a note sheet each week that can be printed or downloaded as a word document. Students will create a cell diagram using a method of their choice: food (cake and pie are the most popular choices), paper diagram, etc. If your student chooses the food option, then he or she will need cake mix and multiple (about 12) types of candy to show each part of the cell.
