In this ongoing class, students will be introduced to a new science concept or theme each week. Some examples of topics covered are: density, solubility, magnetism, conductivity, etc... They will learn and practice using scientific vocabulary. We will conduct several experiments each week using simple materials that can be found at home. The students will participate in group activities to reinforce the concept of the week (discussions, trivia games, matching, comparing with Venn diagrams, etc...) Here is the breakdown of the weeks: Week of January 26: Acids and Bases Important Information: For this week, I will need the help of the adults to prepare a special "indicator" before the class. To make the indicator you will need to boil some red/purple cabbage for a few minutes and save the purple juice! You can keep it in the fridge until class. You will also need: 3-4 cups 3-4 spoons Water 3-4 of these items, your choice: Lemon juice Apple juice Milk Vinegar Baking soda Household cleaning product (if an adult is sitting with the child) Dish soap Week of February 2: Magic Polymers: Pencils and Putty Week of February 9: Lava Lamps Week of February 16: Cool Candy! Week of February 23: Delicious Dilution Week of March 2: Wax Science/Art **Daylight Savings** Week of March 9: Elephant Toothpaste Week of March 16: Slime Party! Week of March 23: Beautiful Bubbles Week of March 30: Magical Music Week of April 6: Apple Oxidation Week of April 13: Fingerprint Detectives Week of April 20: Invisible Ink Week of April 27: NO CLASS No prior knowledge about any of the science concepts is required in order to participate in this class. As this is an ongoing class, students may join at any time. The concepts are not cumulative and can each be learned separately. I look forward to teaching your children! Ms. Erin

受講に必要なもの
I will post the materials in the classroom one week before each class. **If you register after the weekly message is posted, you may not be able to see it in the classroom. I try my best to email the list to new students before their first class, depending on how last minute they register. Materials are usually easy to find household items. I also recommend students bring a notebook or folder with paper so they may record their findings each week! If you are ever missing any of the materials, just let me know! There are always alternatives, or you can simply watch the experiments and still enjoy the class!
