In this 9-week online course, students will learn about the major systems of the body. We will learn about what ANATOMY is and also have lots of fun. We will label the bones and muscles, learn the function of the skin, why we sweat, what happens to our food after it enters our mouth, and so much more. As a past massage therapist, I have always loved learning about the systems of the body and not only how it works but also why it works the way it does. Week 1: The Skeletal System - Discover Our Bones Week 2: The Muscular System - Discover Our Muscles Week 3: The Circulatory System - Why Does Our Body Have Blood Week 4: The Respiratory System - Why Do We Breathe Week 5: The Nervous System - Why Do We Feel Pain Week 6: The Digestive System - What Happens to Our Food Once It Enters Our Mouth Week 7: The Immune System - Why Do I Get Sick Sometimes Week 8: The Integumentary System - Are You Telling Me the Skin Is an Organ Week 9: The Urinary System - Why Do We Need to Eliminate I will be using slides, short videos, worksheets, and class discussions to teach these topics. I will ask questions to check for understanding. It is not necessary for learners to have any previous knowledge of anatomy to take this class. My goal for this class is to create a welcoming environment that is fun and engaging for each learner. Hope to see you in class soon!
