Reindeer, penguins, polar bears, narwhals, and cardinals! In this class we will explore the biology of animals typically thought about during winter and Christmas time. Learners will help me and Santa pick which animals we should deliver gifts to, and then learn about their biology. Class will be interactive with plenty of opportunities for learners to provide input and ask questions. Learners will end class with a better understanding of the biology of a variety of animals, expanded scientific vocabulary, and fun facts to share. Santa, elf, or festive hats optional, but encouraged!

Hi everyone! My name is Andrea and I've been teaching at the university level for over 10 years. I have a PhD in Biology, which allows me to share my passion for nature in the classroom. I've been fortunate to conduct research all over the world and experience amazing habitats, animals, and plants firsthand (Costa Rica, South Africa, Galapagos, and more!). My most recent adventure has been becoming a mom, and sharing my passion for biology with my kids. My science classes are interactive and fun (My kids wouldn't have it any other way!). I engage my students by connecting what they see in their daily lives (movies, TV, books, holidays, etc.) to the magnificent creatures that exist in our world.
