The Plan. You can't believe it! Your family is buying a candy store and YOU get to help run it. During this class students will create a candy store name for their own store. They will learn about advertising their new store and will create a poster.
Stocking the Shelves. It is time to start stocking the shelves with every kind of candy imaginable. Your first shipment has come in and you must figure out how many of each was ordered.

Tuesday: Task #3 and Task #4
Survey your customers. For the next shipment, you want to make sure that you order the types of candies that your customers want.
The Grand Opening. It’s time for your Grand Opening event.

Wednesday: Task #5 and Task #6
Mystery Guest. You are so excited about the mystery guest who will be handing out candy at the Grand Opening Event. Use place value clues to shade the picture.
Your first BIG order. Skip by 2's, 5's and 10's to find the total

Thursday: Task #7 and Task #8
Inventory day. Every store must take inventory and today is no different. We will work together to find the greater and less than symbols to compare some of the inventory.
Surprise bags. Each bag you create for you customers will have different candies in them. Let's count

Friday: Task #9 and #10
Working the cash register. Working the cash register is an important job at the candy store. Figure out much each customer’s candy will cost. (We will not be working on identifying coins or dollar bills) Pictures of product will already have money attached to them.
Candy Spill. Oh no, the big gumball machine fell over and ALL of the gumballs fell out and rolled everywhere. Skip counting and writing the number in word form.

Friday: Task #11
You did it! You ran your family store. Let's tally up what was the most candy sold and what day was the most popular day.

Hi! My name is Brienna. Students can call me Ms. B.
When the pandemic started, I knew right away that homeschooling was the journey our family would be taking. I have been homeschooling along with teaching. I began teaching when I was 18! I fell in love with teaching and showing students that they were Rockstars! (Reading Rockstar, Math Rockstar, Social Studies Rock Star). It was very important to me that learners felt that they were awesome and could rock any subject that was taught.

I have two amazing kids!! A Jr. in high school and a middle school learner. Our favorite things to do as a family is to travel and collect board games.

I am a huge advocate for special needs students. My son’s journey with Autism and ADHD taught me so much from learning about different therapies to IEP goals. I create classes so that all children with different abilities can participate and feel valued.

With my ten years’ experience, as a preschool teacher my passion is teaching children through engaging activities, while having fun. Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a private tutor for Kindergarten through 6th grade.

Currently I am working towards my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and becoming a certified Curriculum Specialist. With different classroom setting experiences I had the opportunity to focus on phonics, reading, sensory activities, science experience and history. Getting children excited about learning is what drives me every day.
I cannot wait to teach your children here at Outschool!
