このクラスで学べること
Students will discuss, make observations, and practice rounding whole numbers and decimals with the teacher as well as the other learners. There are two rounding anchor charts that are provided to help students remember the correct steps in rounding. One chart has the rules for rounding decimals with examples, and the other chart is for whole numbers. It is recommended that the anchor charts be printed and kept in a math folder for future reference. If time allows, we will end the class with a Kahoot about rounding! Day 1: Rules for rounding whole numbers/practice in class/Kahoot at the end of class with 2nd device or split screen Day 2: Rules for rounding decimals/practice in class/Kahoot at the end of class with 2nd device or split screen
学習到達目標
Students will learn how to round whole numbers and decimals to specific place values.

受講に必要なもの
The two math anchor charts on rounding will need to be printed on regular printer paper before class. Other supplies are as follows: a pencil and eraser, or dry erase board and dry erase marker. We will also play a game of Kahoot at the end of class if time allows. A second device will make this game much easier for the learners. (For example, 1 computer and a tablet, 1 Chromebook and cell phone, or a desktop and a Chromebook.) It is possible to play this online game with one computer or laptop, but it is a little tricky and requires a split-screen.

教師の専門知識と資格
I have a Master's Degree in Education and I am certified to teach K-8 grades. I have taught math for 27 of my 28 years of teaching, specifically fourth and fifth-grade mathematics. I am a lifelong learner and find myself taking workshops and courses regularly. Sometimes, students put up a mental wall as soon as math is mentioned. I try to provide math classes where students feel safe in asking questions, taking risks, and making mistakes. I want students to reflect and learn from their mistakes instead of focusing on incorrect answers. This is the first step in developing a greater and more meaningful understanding of the process, which in turn develops confidence.
