Roald Dahl's books sometimes explore the darker elements of human nature. They can be scary for sensitive children. Every once in a while, a reader will encounter a curse word in the text, neglect and mistreatment of children, misogyny, racial and ethnic stereotypes, and anti-semitism. We encourage parents to read and discuss these issues with their children since we are not reading aloud in class. If an issue comes up in discussion, the teachers are able to handle each child's opinion, thoughts, and comments with understanding and sympathy, allowing others to share their feelings and ideas. All voices are heard in an equitable environment that respects the human dignity of all.  To read details about each book:
