In this course, students will study and review arithmetic skills they can apply in their personal lives, future careers, and in making wise consumer decisions. This class begins with a review of percentages, ratios, and averages before moving on to occupational topics; it includes details on jobs, wages, and taxes. Then we will go into budgeting, cash purchases buying cars and houses, credit cards, and much more. Students will complete activities such as balancing a checking account, planning a road trip, calculating gas mileage, calculating the amount of paint needed to paint a room, and filling out a tax form. Students will be provided with notes pages they should have printed out in preparation for class. See the syllabus for list of topics
