準備、スタート、読書 - ケイティ先生と一緒に読書を学ぼう

I will be assessing and determining the needs of the child I am tutoring. We will be learning how to read and practicing this very valuable life skill.

The first meeting is me showing fun slides, but also gauging my learner's reading level and skills. This will determine what level the games and stories will be in the upcoming meetings. At this meeting, I will also ask for some favorites- colors, animals, shows, etc. I enjoy creating personalized games and stories that will captivate my learner and allow him/her to enjoy our time together, while getting some needed "brain food."

My teaching style is playful, upbeat, interactive. We will play games, do activities based on simple reading skills (such as letter identification, sounds, rhyming, syllables, etc.). 

These tutoring sessions are intended for children between ages 4-7 who need help learning  the skills they need to read.

During our time together, we will learn how to:
-Identify letter names (upper and lowercase)
-Verbalize letter sounds
-Blend and segment words
-Decode CVC (words like c-a-t or s-u-n)
-Identify Sight Words (also sometimes known as "heart" words or "tricky" words)

I believe that learners can succeed best when met where they are currently.
