Students typically raise their reading level a full year with just 12 hours of instruction.

Sharon Frazier-Verpooten has been teaching for over 30 years and knows how to get the best out of her students. She has an elementary teaching credential, a bachelor’s degree in Music Education, and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Sharon is a leader and trainer in schools and districts throughout the United States. She is a certified Reading Interventionist, Struggling Reader Specialist, and Music Specialist.

Her training in many strategies to maximize student achievement, especially in Reader’s and Writer’s workshop, Gifted and Talented Education, and the AVID college readiness program makes her an invaluable asset to any educational program. Sharon conducts many workshops for other teachers and parents on topics such as The Music and Reading Connection, GATE, AVID, Computer Using Educators, and Social Emotional Learning.

Students progress more quickly if they read for 15-20 minutes each day.

I informally assess students as we work together.  Also, every 12 hours, I use the QRI6 to assess their improvement.
