As an second grade elementary classroom teacher, teaching the nonfiction reading genre with Reading to Learn- Nonfiction Text, is one of the best ways to foster a students ability to learn new information about the world around us. This course of study helps the young readers develop newly found interests in reading that fosters their reading independence. I have seen students develop a deeper understanding and new interests in content areas of study by presenting this course.
