毎日読む: スペース (柔軟なスケジュール)

This is a Flexible Schedule Course with no live meetings.

During this class, learners will build their reading comprehension skills through the simple act of reading for about 10 minutes every weekday.  We will look at 5 short articles every week all relating to the topic of Space.  

Every weekday, I will post an article in the classroom.  Learners will read the article and when they are finished, comment 2 or 3 things they learned from the article that day.  Every week, learners will also have the opportunity to dive deeper into word meanings by either creating a meaning map and learning how words relate to each other, or becoming a word detective and investigating the parts of words. Word work will be posted every Sunday and due every Friday. Learners are required to be actively posting in the classroom for the duration of this class.  

The topics for each week are as follows:

Week 1: The Universe (Meaning Map)

Week 2: Getting to Know the Planets (Word Detective)

Week 3: The Sun and the Earth (Meaning Map)

Week 4: Space Objects (Meaning Map)


This simple act of reading every day paired with the weekly word work will help your learner build reading stamina, background knowledge, and vocabulary.  All of these skills are critical to fully understand what we read. 

Reading every day about a topic that interests your learner will hopefully create a thirst for knowledge and ignite a passion for reading that never goes out!
