In this one-time class, students will create their very own pumpkin catapult. At the beginning of class, I will get to know my students and then I will explain the STEM challenge- which includes creating a working catapult that is able to launch a candy pumpkin. Students absolutely love it and always have such a fun time designing and launching. 
I will let students try to create their own catapult, but if they need assistance I can help them design a catapult. Once the catapult has been designed, students will try it out to see if it's successful. They will also be given the chance to improve their design for an even better launch. We will measure how far the pumpkins launch and discuss the STEM components behind the pumpkin launch.

Hi there! My name is Beckie and I live in Georgia. I have been teaching in a public school setting for 8 years. I've taught 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th grade. I love providing my students with hands-on and engaging activities. I believe in implementing STEM, critical thinking, and higher levels of learning in the classroom setting.  My favorite part of teaching is when my learners share their excitement with others. My goal is for your child to not only learn new concepts, but to build a passion for something new. I was voted "Teacher of the Year" a few years ago; therefore, I strive to provide my students with a learning environment that gets them excited to learn new concepts and ideas. 
In my free time I enjoy reading, cooking, and exploring new parks with my family. I look forward to teaching your child!
