Pinyin, the one and only tool to learn Chinese has been invented for over 60 years. It is also the very first thing all students in China learn in their Chinese classes when they are 6 or 7 years old. However, it is not quite known in the western world. The benefits of study Pinyin:

1. Pinyin ensures students to pronounce Chinese correctly. Over 98% of foreign Chinese learners fail to pronounce Chinese accurately, since they didn't spend enough time on study and practice Pinyin. 
2. Pinyin is the key to help student memorize new Chinese characters. This is because without Pinyin, one cannot even denote what a Chinese character sounds like. How can he/she go over the characters later? And even if a student forced him/herself to memorize the new words, how long can he/she remember? A day? A week? After learning Pinyin, a student already memorized all the building blocks for Chinese pronunciation, he/she just need to put them together for the new characters learned.
3. Pinyin is a tool to visualizing the sound of Chinese, which makes it an excellent tool to tell the difference between two similar Chinese pronunciations. It's common for Chinese learners get confused how come their teachers telling them what seems to them their correct pronunciations in fact is wrong. With Pinyin a student can tell the difference in 1-2 seconds.   
4. Pinyin is the most popular Chinese input method for all computers and electronic devices, since it has the fastest input rate and the highest accuracy rate compared to voice input and hand-write input.
5. Chinese names, locations, are all translated into English by Pinyin.

In this course, all 57 Pinyin and 300+ practical Chinese characters will be taught in class. Students are expected to take notes and memorize what they learned after the class (it usually takes less than 1 hour per week outside their classes). 

During the last year, of all Chinese exams and quizzes taken by my students at school, the lowest score is 95/100.
