Homework is assigned based on what is requested to be covered in the class. For example, if you would like your child to learn how to write a standard, 5 paragraph essay, then this would take place over 2-3 sessions with homework assigned in between. By the end of these sessions, your student would then have a completed and graded essay.

1-on-1 private tutoring sessions created to help students learn literary analysis and how to write in a fun and easy way. This class is basically what you make it! Want to learn character types and other literary devices like theme, irony, and motif and relate them to movies? Are you interested in poetry, but overwhelmed by how complex and confusing it seems? Struggling with essays and need it simplified into an easy format that works for any type of essay? Or maybe you're just interested in creative writing and want to work on your own poetry and storytelling skills. Whatever your interest or needs (even if it's just help with homework!), this class is intentionally designed to be tailored to you. So let's create your dream writing class together!

If you have more than one student in the same age range who are interested in the same topic or are using the same curriculum, please message me about scheduling a class for your students as I offer a sibling discount. I will create a new private class for you with the initial price and $10 added on for each student who will be participating.

Hi! My name is Ms. Ashley and I love the beauty of words and firmly believe that stories have the power to change the world. I love stories, writing, and sharing that love with others. Especially kids and teenagers! As the oldest of seven siblings and a former homeschooler, I'm passionate about helping kids learn at their own pace and tailoring materials and lessons to fit their strengths and interests. 

I have a bachelors degree in English, with minors in ASL and history. In addition to tutoring, I have been teaching middle and high school composition and literature classes at a private school for 4 years where I have had the opportunity to expand and rewrite portions of the curriculum to make it more engaging and accessible. While I enjoy teaching ancient literature and research papers to high schoolers, I absolutely love teaching beginning literary analysis, literary devices, and essay writing to middle schoolers. Who doesn't like when you can connect elements in books to your favorite Disney movies or writing your very first essay on your favorite character? Learning to write should be fun and easy and I look forward to being able to help your child!

When I'm not teaching or writing, I love spending time with my family, playing with my goldendoodle puppy, reading, or watching football.
