Homework
1-2 hours per week. Piano students will be assigned songs and theory work each week. They may also be asked to review note identification through musictheory.net. Voice students should expect to review their songs between lessons.Class Experience
Beginner - Intermediate Level
Private 1-on-1 Piano or Voice (singing) lessons meet weekly for 25 min and are catered to each student's age and skill level. During the first lesson students skill will be assessed for approximately the first fifteen minutes so a plan can be created to ensure future lessons meet the student's goals and are on the student's level. The second half of the lesson will be spent focusing on technique and theory based on their assessment. Piano Lessons: Please note that students will be asked to purchase lesson books. These books will be required for lessons. Also, students must have access to a piano or electric keyboard during the week to practice. The first 15-20 min will be spent on technique, song review, and learning new songs and concepts. If time allows we will spend the second part of the lesson working on theory concepts to help the student become comfortable with reading what is on the page. PLEASE NOTE: Younger students may need a parent nearby, especially in the beginning. Also, practice between sessions is essential for progression. Voice Lessons: The first 10 minutes of class will be spend on warm-ups. Warmups allow the student to not only prepare for their repertoire, but also review basic technique concepts. After warm-ups we will move on to song work where we will work on technique and performance. Please note voice students must have access to two devices. One for the zoom call and one to play music from either YouTube or another source during song work. Occasionally voice students may be asked to purchase sheet music for their songs.

Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from American University
Hello from sunny Florida!
I am a piano and voice (singing) teacher who also has lots of theater experience! I'll be offering a variety of music programs for kids of all ages.
I have been teaching piano since 2001 and it was one of my first jobs. I added voice and theater into the mix in 2006 when I received my BA in Music Performance from American University in Washington, DC. I was blessed in 2012 to be able to start teaching full time and I have never looked back!
I've been teaching music for 20+ years and I have loved every moment of it! I especially love working with young singers and helping them explore their voices and understand free and easy vocal production.
Training:
B.A. in Voice Performance from American University (Washington, DC)
The CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah University (July 2019)
Working with Adolescent Voices Course Completion from The Voice College (September 2020)
Somatic Voicework(tm): The LoVetri Method in partnership with Baldwin Wallace University (Online, July 2021)
In addition to music I am also a homeschool mom and a part time gamer. I love everything from tower defense to cozy farming games. Gaming on Outschool has been a great way for my own son to connect with other kids, and I hope to bring that opportunity to other families as well! Make sure you check out my super fun gaming options as well!
