We will be planting a seed in today's class. Materials for this class: Seeds (Marigold, zinnia, bean, and pea seeds usually grow well) Dirt A small planter pot - clay or peat (see below on how to make a planter out of an empty toilet paper tube) Notes: 1. If you are starting your seed in a small planter, you will have to transfer it to a larger planter or outside for it to continue to grow. 2. To make a planter out of an empty toilet paper tube: Cut an inch off of the bottom of the tube. Cut 1 inch-long vertical slices into one end of the tube to make flaps. Fold the flaps in on themselves to form the bottom of the planter.
