Some years later, she taught herself to read Latin so she could read the works of Gaius Julius Caesar in their original form. She has taught ancient history as a part of her homeschool curriculum and developed the "Life in..." History series as a way of teaching her autistic daughter history.

Annette has completed Continuing Education Certification with OER's Big History and World History Projects and the NMNA's Foundation for Teaching and Learning about Native Americans. She completed her Best Start in Life: Early Childhood Development certificate. She is currently working on certifications for working with special needs children and her TEFL certification.
