This weekly class is a small-group circle time. In this course, we will practice phonemic awareness, build number sense, read stories and practice comprehension skills aligned with the US Common Core Standards. As time allows, we will discuss the calendar and season, learn about the letter and number of the week, practice phonemic awareness such as first sound, last sound, and rhyming words, and read a book for comprehension. Songs and educational chants may also be taught for the corresponding weekly topic.
Before graduating college, I worked as an afterschool tutor for students grades K-6 for 2 years. I earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Weber State University in 2014. I taught 1st grade for 4 years before becoming a stay-at-home mother.
