**This is a flex class version of my live lesson, Powerful Predators: animals that hunt. There are no live meetings during this course.**

Our world is full of powerful predators with unique tactics to successfully hunt their prey.

But how do they hunt their prey? What unique strategies do they use to ensure their success?

In this 7-week course, we will take a look at a range of impressive and strong predators from around the world. We will learn about their individual features, whether they hunt alone or as a group, and how they use their habitat to help them hunt their prey. We will consider animals that work as a team, use speed to their advantage, stalk or ambush their prey, and also animals that use venom to attack their prey.

During the course we will study:
Week 1: Orcas and Lions (Teamwork)
Week 2: Tigers and Komodo Dragon (Ambush and Stalking)
Week 3: Polar Bears and Saltwater Crocodiles (Ambush)
Week 4: Wolves and African Wild Dogs (Teamwork)
Week 5: King Cobras and Box Jellyfish (Venom)
Week 6: Cheetahs and Peregrine Falcon (speed)
Week 7: Presentation and review

Each week, students will view a presentation with questions throughout to assess students listening and understanding. They will then be provided with a template to draw each animal and write key facts from the lesson. Students will collate these fact sheets to create their own Predator book by the end of the course.

At the end of the course, students will be shown how to make their own A4 presentation to cover each of the hunting tactics discussed and will present to their fellow students their favourite animal from the course and why it is best suited to its hunting strategy e.g. why cheetahs use speed and not teamwork. Students will be asked to submit their videos to the classroom for other students to comment on.

Throughout the course, students will be given interactive questions and can submit their answers via the classroom e.g. guess the animal from the description or match the hunting strategy to the correct animal. Students will each be given cards that they share in the classroom, for another student to match with e.g. student one has teamwork, and student two will have a picture of lions. Then student two will have stalking and student three will have a picture of a Komodo dragon.

Hello, it's lovely to meet you! I'm Catherine, a qualified primary teacher and home educator from the UK.

I am incredibly passionate about encouraging the next generation to be proactive with conservation and protecting our planet. You'll see many of my classes are themed around my love for animals, endangered species, habitats, and conservation.

Young students care deeply about our world, are enthusiastic and keen to learn about sustaining our planet. My classes are aimed mostly at 4-6 or 5-7-year-olds for this very reason.

As a qualified primary school teacher and ESL teacher, outside of my animal-themed classes, I also offer a range of fun, activity-led classes focused on phonics, book clubs, early math, and ESL.

Outside of teaching, I love nothing more than spending time in nature with my family. I have two children, 6 and 4, whom I home educate with my husband. We spend as much time as possible visiting nature reserves, local wildlife parks, and hiking with our dog. My DSLR camera is always on hand to capture the incredible sights we see, from migrating birds in winter to summer-blooming flowers.

Nature and the world around us is a huge part of our life. With my classes, I help young learners with a passion for our incredible world, by answering their questions, providing cross-curricular activities, and extending their prior knowledge.

My live lessons are often discussion-based within a relaxed and friendly environment where everyone has the opportunity to participate. Flex classes offer learners an opportunity to study the content at a pace or time zone that suits them. Due to them being no live lessons, these classes are jam-packed full of cross-curricular activities for students to enjoy and share with their peers.

Interested in finding out more?! GREAT!

Come along and join one of my classes below. I cannot wait to meet you.
